{"id":249408,"date":"2021-06-07T15:00:17","date_gmt":"2021-06-07T09:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=249408"},"modified":"2023-10-03T14:22:08","modified_gmt":"2023-10-03T08:52:08","slug":"brutal-assault-on-a-doctor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2021\/06\/07\/brutal-assault-on-a-doctor\/","title":{"rendered":"Complaint of brutal assault on a doctor by a COVID patient&#8217;s relatives: NHRC takes suo motu cognizance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">National Human Rights Commission, India, after taking cognizance of a complaint about the brutal assault on a doctor by the relatives of a Covid patient at Udali Model Hospital in Hojai district of Assam 01-06-2021 has called for the action taken report from the Chief Secretary and the Director-General of Police, Government of Assam into the alleged incident within four weeks. Besides an enquiry into the allegations, the report is expected to include the needful preventive and punitive action taken in the matter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Commission has also sent a copy of the complaint to the Secretary, Union Health &amp; Family Welfare Ministry to initiate necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the frontline health workers in the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the complaint, having attached media reports,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">the incident happened after the Covid patient had died. Allegedly, some of the frontline medical workers, Doctors, Nurses and Ward boys managed to escape but also got hurt and are deeply traumatized due to this horrific incident.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>National Human Rights Commission<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>[Press Release dt.
