Singh asks <span dir=\"ltr\">Union of India, Delhi Government to <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">take i<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">mmediate steps to ensure that the doses received till May 10, 2021 and by May 15, 2021 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">a<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">re <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">allocated to <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">States\/UTs and are <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">distributed <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">transpare<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">nt<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ly, <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">efficiently <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">and in a <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">timely <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">manner, <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">so that they c<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">an be immed<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">i<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ately administered to patien<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ts who are in need<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"ltr\">T<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">he petition was filed by the brot<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">h<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">er of<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\"> a COVID<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">19 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">patient and<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\"> was prescribed a dose of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Tocilizuma<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">b<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">400 MG<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">, however after <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">multiple ef<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">f<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">orts, he was unable to procure the same.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Noticing the shortage of the drug in the country, the Court directed <span dir=\"ltr\">Roche India to take <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">in<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">structions <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">from <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">M\/s Chugai Sei<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">yaku Kabushiki Kaisha<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">or or any other entity <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">involved <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">in the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">supply chain <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">and make s<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">u<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">bmissio<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ns as to whether any <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">fur<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">th<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">e<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">r sup<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ply of more quantities of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Tocilizumab 400 MG <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">doses can be <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">made,<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">and the<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\"> timeli<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">nes<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">,<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">in order to cater t<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">o the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">actual <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">demand <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">for <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">patients in India<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"ltr\">The Court also directed Union of India to <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">place an affidavit on record by May 12, 2021<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">, statin<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">g <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">as to <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">whether there are any ot<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">he<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">r <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">applications for manufac<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ture\/import\/sale of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Tocilizumab 400 MG<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">, with the Drug Controller General of India, un<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">der the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Drugs and Cosmetics Ac<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">t, 1940.
