Rule16 (i) <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">an<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">d Rule 61 of \u201cPost Office Life Insurance Rules<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">, <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">2011&#8243;. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"ltr\">Rule 16 (i) is amended as under: <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">OLD<\/span>: <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">16 (i). <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Thirty five percent of sum assured along with the accrued b<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">onus in case the death of the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">insured person occurs before the completion of one year from the date of acceptance of the proposal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><span dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">NEW:<\/span> <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">16 (i). <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Thirty five percent of sum assured along with the accrued bonus in case the death of the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">insured person occurs b<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">efore the completion of one year from the date of acceptance of the proposal <span style=\"color: #008000;\">except <\/span><\/span><span dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">in case of death by suicide, which shall be dealt as per Rule 61<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rule 61 is amended as under:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\"><span dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Old:<\/span> 61 (Suicide Cases)<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">: <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">In the event of an insured person committin<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">g suicide any time after the date of acceptance of the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">policy (whether sane or insane at that time) and after having paid his first premium in full but not after <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">expiry of two years from such date of acceptance or payment of first premium whichever is late<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">r, the policy <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">shall become void and no claim whatsoever shall be entertained by the department by the virtue of the said <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">policy except to the extent of the bonafide beneficial interest which any person ( other than the life assured) <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">shall have acquired in <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">the said policy for valuable consideration for which one calendar months notice, <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">before the death of insured person, should have been given to the Director General of Posts or Postmaster <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">General concerned on his behalf; and provided further that sufficient <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">proof shall have to be produced in <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">regard to having acquired such interest in the policy to the satisfaction of the Director General of Posts or <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Postmaster General.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\"><span dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">New:<\/span> 61 (Suicide Cases)<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">: <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">In the event of an insured person committing suicide any time<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">after the date of acceptance or <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">revival of the policy (whether sane or insane at that time) and after having paid his first premium in full but <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">not after expiry of one year from such date of acceptance or date of revival whichever is later, the policy <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">sha<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ll be entitled for 80% of the premium paid till the date of death or the surrender value, if applicable, as <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">on date, whichever is higher provided the policy is in force.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On April 15, 2021, the
