Out of which Rs. 50,000 each has been paid to the 14 students who fell sick and Rs. 1 lakh to the mother of boy who succumbed to his illness. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For negligence, 2 teachers were put under suspension and departmental proceedings initiated against them. The complaint was received about the incident on 20th January 2018.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Notice by NHRC\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier, in response to the notices of the Commission, the reports from the State Govt. revealed that an ex-gratia of Rs.2 Lakhs was already sanctioned by the Collector for the payment to the NoK of the victim. Punitive action was initiated against the 2 teachers for negligence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Show Cause Notice<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Subsequently, the Commission issued a show-cause notice to the Chief Secretary, Govt. of Odisha why a sum of Rs.1 Lakh be not recommended to be paid u\/s 18 of the Protection of Human Rights Act to the Next of kin of the deceased student in addition to the ex-gratia of Rs.2 Lakhs already sanctioned by the Collector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Compensation<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pursuant to the directions of the Commission, the Govt. of Odisha submitted the compliance report along with proof of payment, wherein it has been stated that Rs. 1 lakh has been paid to the mother of the deceased boy and Rs. 50,000\/- each to other 14 students.<\/p>\n<hr
