The Constitutional Law Society (CLS) is organizing a Certificate Course on the topic: \u2018Supreme Court Practice and Procedure: Writs, PIL, Appeals and Special Leave Petitions\u2019 in the month of April 2021.<\/em><\/p>\n

About NLUO and CLS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The National Law University Odisha (NLUO)<\/strong>, located at Cuttack, Odisha is a vibrant addition to India\u2019s national law universities. Within a short span, NLUO has made its mark as a university engaged in teaching and research in law.<\/p>\n

The Constitutional Law Society<\/strong> of National Law University Odisha was established in 2018 with a vision to provide a platform for public discourse and deliberation vis-\u00e0-vis Constitutional Law. The Society endeavours through the course of its activities to foster awareness about the subject and its importance. The purpose behind the establishment of the Society is to generate debate and dialogue on various nuances of the subject of Constitutional Law.<\/p>\n

About the Opportunity<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Constitutional Law Society (CLS) shall be organizing a Certificate Course on the topic: \u2018Supreme Court Practice and Procedure: Writs, PIL, Appeals and Special Leave Petitions\u2019 in the month of April 2021. The classes shall be held on the first three weekends in April 2021 (2nd \u2013 4th April, 9th \u2013 11th April, 17th \u2013 18th April). The Course Instructor for this Certificate Course shall be Ms. Shriya Maini, Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of India.<\/p>\n

About Ms. Shriya Maini<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ms. Shriya Maini is an Advocate-on-Record currently practicing at the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court at New Delhi. She specializes in cross\u2013border dispute resolution (civil, criminal, and matrimonial) and has been accredited with numerous publications. A gold medalist from the Gujarat National Law University, Ms. Maini post-graduated in law from the University of Oxford, the U.K. on the Dr. Ambruti Salve Scholarship (a fully-funded grant awarded to one Indian student every year by Senior Advocate Dr. Harish Salve). Thereafter, she worked under President Judge (now Retd.) Theodor Meron at the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals at The Hague, The Netherlands, a war crimes tribunal set up by the United Nations to try the Balkan war criminals.<\/p>\n

An awardee of the Oxford Global Justice Award for Public International Law 2014 \u2013 15, Ms. Maini is now back in India, currently serving as a Visiting Faculty for subjects like \u2018Supreme Court Practice and Procedure\u2019, \u2018Criminal Procedure Code\u2019, \u2018Women and Child Laws\u2019, \u2018Human Rights and International Crimes\u2019 at NLU Delhi, Renaissance Law Institute and Lloyd Law College, Noida.<\/p>\n

Importance of the Course<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

It has been generally noted that there is a gulf existing between the theoretical teachings and practical applications of the legal knowledge disseminated.
