{"id":236842,"date":"2020-10-06T23:10:20","date_gmt":"2020-10-06T17:40:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=236842"},"modified":"2020-10-06T23:00:56","modified_gmt":"2020-10-06T17:30:56","slug":"release-of-first-issue-of-international-journal-on-gender-based-violence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2020\/10\/06\/release-of-first-issue-of-international-journal-on-gender-based-violence\/","title":{"rendered":"Release of First issue of International Journal on Gender Based Violence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Foundation for Academia, Innovation, and Thought (FAITH), a not-for-profit organization co-founded by two students from the Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, in collaboration with the University of Rochester, New York, has released the first issue of the first volume of its journal \u201cSouth Asian Journal for Law, Policy, and Social Research\u201d on SSRN on September 7<sup>th<\/sup> and can be accessed for free <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssrn.com\/link\/South-Asian-J-Law-Policy-Social-Research.html\">HERE<\/a> \u00a0This much-awaited release comes after the Journal\u2019s parent organisation had decided to postpone its initial release due to the global COVID- 19 outbreak which was scheduled to be held in March 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Upon release, the founders <em>Naseer Husain Jafri(aka Tariq), and Umair Ahmed Andrabi <\/em>made their statements and said, \u201cThe journal is a peer-reviewed, open-access legal and social science journal that publishes original and previously unpublished research and aims to create an interdisciplinary research platform to foster prospective solutions to legal and social issues in South Asian countries. The journal also attempts to bring research beyond library shelves by the inclusion of art,\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cVolume I of the Journal focuses on the theme of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), which is inclusive of physical, sexual, and psychological harm based on gender in the South Asian region and features research perspectives to GBV in the region along with several exceptional photographs from photographers around South Asia that give an artistic perspective to GBV, Volume I Issue II of the journal will be released in November,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They said the journal was \u201can attempt at making research accessible to everyone around the world free of cost and influencing policymaking through evidence-based research, FAITH aims to harness the power of interdisciplinary and international scholarship to resolve conflict and right injustices and believes in making research accessible which will lead to disabling the spread of disinformation. It envisions a world in which collaborative research addresses social problems, where scholarship informs government policies, and in which all individuals are free to live safe and dignified
