{"id":231271,"date":"2020-06-23T16:31:34","date_gmt":"2020-06-23T11:01:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=231271"},"modified":"2023-10-03T15:37:19","modified_gmt":"2023-10-03T10:07:19","slug":"231271","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2020\/06\/23\/231271\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19| Cancellation of Board exams: CBSE to take final decision tomorrow; SC to hear the matter on Thursday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Supreme Court<\/strong>: The 3-judge bench of AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjiv Khanna, JJ has deferred the hearing in the <span lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\">plea seeking<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0quashing of the\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\">CBSE<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0notification for conducting the remaining Class 10 and 12 exams from July 1 to\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\">15, to Thursday after the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the Court that\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;the expert body is in the process of taking final decision in the matter very shortly and hopefully by tomorrow i.e. 24th June, 2020.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Plea filed by a group of concerned parents stated that \u00a0the CBSE has cancelled the examinations of Class 10 and 12 for its around 250 schools situated abroad and will be awarding marks on the basis of either practical exams or an internal assessment because of the pandemic. The parents seek to cancel the CBSE Class 10 and 12 exams in the wake of the spike in the COVID-19 positive cases in the Country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Court will now hear the matter on 25.06.2020 after CBSE takes a final decision in the matter.<\/p>\n<p>The Court also deferred a related matter dealing with cancellation of the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ISCE) to 25.06.2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[Amit Bathla v.
