Delhi High Court:\u00a0<\/strong>Sanjeev Sachdeva, J., directed Central Government to consider whether caretakers, attendants and support staff of persons with disabilities could be granted exemption under the National disaster Management Act.<\/span><\/p>\n

Petitioner filed the present petition seeking mandamus against respondents to classify caretakers, attendants and support staff of the persons with disabilities as medical personnel and grant them exemptions National Disaster Management Act<\/p>\n

Karan Mathur with Ivo D\u2019Costa, Advocate, submitted that in view of lockdown and guidelines issued by Union of India, caretakers\/attendants and support staff of persons with great difficulty are not granted exemptions and thus are not in a position to obtain a pass for travelling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Further he added that, some of the caretakers\/attendants and support staff are not registered as medical personnel and accordingly, do not satisfy the criteria prescribed by the Government for grant of exemptions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bench stated that Centre should consider as to whether caretakers, attendants and support staff of persons with disabilities could be granted exemption under NDMA for the purpose of support to people with disability.<\/p>\n
