{"id":227696,"date":"2020-03-30T14:55:04","date_gmt":"2020-03-30T09:25:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=227696"},"modified":"2020-04-10T11:55:30","modified_gmt":"2020-04-10T06:25:30","slug":"covid-19-del-hc-delhi-riot-victims-who-may-be-shelterless-to-be-provided-accommodation-and-basic-amenities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2020\/03\/30\/covid-19-del-hc-delhi-riot-victims-who-may-be-shelterless-to-be-provided-accommodation-and-basic-amenities\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 | Del HC | Delhi riot victims who may be shelterless to be provided accommodation and basic amenities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Delhi High Court:\u00a0<\/strong>A Division Bench of Siddharth Mridul and Talwant Singh, JJ.\u00a0 addressed an application filed under Section 482 of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 directed,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;GNCTD to ensure that all the riot victims, who may be shelterless were provided with accommodation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Petitioner in the present application has prayed for the following:<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>\u201ca. Directing a large contingent of cleaning staff from the East Delhi Municipal Corporation to go immediately to the area to carry out the cleaning on a war footing and continue cleaning the area and the drains twice a day.<\/p>\n<p>b. Directing the respondents to re-open the relief camp at Idgah, Mustafabad and to provide proper food supplies, sanitation, cleaning of toilets, adequate water and security.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 2\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>c. Directing the respondents to publicly announce on television and in the Newspapers that the Idgah camp is open and all those who seek refuge there are welcome to return.<\/p>\n<p>d. Directing the respondents to provide doctors and medical care immediately.<br \/>\ne. Restraining the respondents from preventing or interfering with the work of genuine NGO\u2019s and media persons providing assistance.<\/p>\n<p>f. Directions for the security to be upgraded with immediate effect.<br \/>\ng. Directions for appointment of a responsible person as Court Commissioner to visit the riot affected areas and the relief camps and to make a report about the conditions and to make recommendations regarding what is needed to be done urgently.<\/p>\n<p>h. Pass any other order which this Hon\u2019ble Court may deem fit and proper to do complete justice to the matter\/case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>GNCTD is directed to ensure that all the riot victims, who may be shelterless were provided with accommodation, at Community Centres or at Night Shelters operated by Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board.<\/p>\n<p>Adding to the above, provision of food, water and medical aid shall also be provided to the victims.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 3\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>GNCTD and EDMC shall furthermore, individually and jointly, ensure that sanitation, cleanliness and hygiene is properly and regularly maintained at the locations\/centres\/shelters, where the riot victims are to be housed.<\/p>\n<p>The petition is to be re-notified on 30-03-2020.
