{"id":226833,"date":"2020-03-11T11:30:06","date_gmt":"2020-03-11T06:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=226833"},"modified":"2020-03-11T00:54:00","modified_gmt":"2020-03-10T19:24:00","slug":"lok-sabha-passes-mineral-laws-amendment-bill-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2020\/03\/11\/lok-sabha-passes-mineral-laws-amendment-bill-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Lok Sabha passes &#8212; Mineral Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Mineral Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020 passed by Lok Sabha on 06-03-2020.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is a bill to amend the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 and to amend the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act, 2015.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" title=\"Page 7\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>The Mineral Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020 which seeks to replace the Mineral Laws (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020, inter alia, provides for the following, namely:\u2014<\/p>\n<p>(i) to insert a new section 4B in Mines and Minerals Act empowering the Central Government to prescribe conditions for sustained production of minerals by the holders of mining leases who have acquired rights under section 8B;<\/p>\n<p>(ii) to insert a new section 8B in the Mines and Minerals Act relating to provisions for transfer of statutory clearances;<\/p>\n<p>(iii) to amend section 5 of the Mines and Minerals Act to provide for the dispensation of the previous approval of the Central Government in respect of minerals specified in part A of the First Schedule;<\/p>\n<p>(iv) to amend section 10C of the Mines and Minerals Act to provide incentives for exploration of deep seated minerals and their auction;<\/p>\n<p>(v) to amend section 11A of the Mines and Minerals Act so as to provide for allocation of coal blocks for composite prospecting licence-cum-mining lease;<\/p>\n<p>(vi) to amend section 4 of the Coal Mines Act so as to clarify the power of the Central Government to allocate mines for any purpose;<\/p>\n<p>(vii) to amend sections 4, 5 and 8 of the Coal Mines Act for allocation of coal mines for composite prospecting licence-cum-mining lease; and<\/p>\n<p>(viii) to amend section 9 of the Coal Mines Act so as to clarify the priority of disbursal of amount of compensation.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Please read the detailed bill by clicking on the link below:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/164.100.47.4\/BillsTexts\/LSBillTexts\/PassedLoksabha\/60-C_2020_LS_Eng.pdf\">Mineral Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Lok Sabha<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mineral Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020 passed by Lok Sabha on 06-03-2020.
