{"id":223744,"date":"2020-01-02T12:00:26","date_gmt":"2020-01-02T06:30:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=223744"},"modified":"2020-01-02T11:01:59","modified_gmt":"2020-01-02T05:31:59","slug":"launch-of-mobile-aided-note-identifier-mani-for-aiding-visually-impaired-persons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2020\/01\/02\/launch-of-mobile-aided-note-identifier-mani-for-aiding-visually-impaired-persons\/","title":{"rendered":"Launch of Mobile Aided Note Identifier (MANI) for aiding visually impaired persons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">RBI Governor launched the \u201cMobile Aided Note Identifier (MANI)\u201d, a mobile application for aiding visually impaired persons to identify the denomination of Indian Banknotes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Indian banknotes contain several features which enable the visually impaired (colour blind, partially sighted and blind people) to identify them, viz., intaglio printing and tactile mark, variable banknote size, large numerals, variable colour, monochromatic hues and patterns. Technological progress has opened up new opportunities for making Indian banknotes more accessible for the visually impaired, thereby facilitating their day to day transactions. As announced in the\u00a0Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies of June 6, 2018, the Bank has developed a mobile application,\u00a0<span class=\"head\">MANI<\/span>, with the following features:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">a) Capable of identifying the denominations of Mahatma Gandhi Series and Mahatma Gandhi (New) series banknote by checking front or reverse side\/part of the note including half folded notes at various holding angles and broad range of light conditions (normal light\/day light\/low light\/ etc.).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">b) Ability to identify the denomination through an audio notification in Hindi\/English and non-sonic mode such as vibration (suitable for those with vision and hearing impairment).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">c) After installation, the mobile application does not require the internet and works in offline mode.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">d) Ability to navigate the mobile application via voice controls for accessing the application features wherever the underlying device &amp; operating system combination supports voice-enabled controls.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">e) The application is free and can be downloaded from the Android Play Store and iOS App Store without any charges\/payment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">f) This mobile application does not
