The Indian Constitution is a magnificent document which is a product of the deliberations of the Constituent Assembly. The text has been interpreted to address the contemporary socio- political challenges in consonance with constitutional principles. It has laid the foundation for the establishment and functioning of the three institutions that mark the Indian Polity, namely, Legislature, Executive and Judiciary. The Indian constitution alongside vesting powers, it is also ensures that these institutions do not surpass their constitutional limits to secure fair and transparent governance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elections are integral to a democratic system of governance. The direction and control of elections are vested in the Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections. Yet the electoral process requires reforms to facilitate equitable and participative elections.<\/span><\/p>\n

Good Governance ensures the protection of citizens\u2019 rights from being violated by the government and further limits and balances the powers of the government vis-\u00e0-vis other players and institutions. This ideal has been furthered through legislative enactments and judicial pronouncements such as the RTI (Amendment) Act 2019, NIA, UAPA and NJAC.<\/span><\/p>\n

The contemporary conundrum in the National Register of Citizens, refugee determination and arbitrary issuance of ordinances pose various constitutional challenges. Due to the absence of well-defined laws in India, the will of the people is constantly under question and it paves way to the will of the cabinet over the will of the people. Thus, \u201cTraversing the Contours of Development in Indian Constitutionalism\u201d showcases the emerging trends within the Constitutional Polity. The transition calls for legitimate discussions that are achieved through academic discourse which is the need of the hour in Indian social-economic-political milieu.<\/span><\/p>\n

Call for Papers<\/span><\/h4>\n

The Conference aims to find a solution to the aforementioned ideas and therefore invites research papers and manuscripts on the following sub-themes:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n3. Transparency in Political Campaign and Article 19 of the Constitution<\/span><\/p>\n

Theme III: Constitutional Vision on Good Governance<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Power of National Investigative Agency and Effect of Changes in Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967
\n2. Elevation and Transfer in the Indian Judiciary: An Assessment
\n3. An Analysis of Reservation in the context of 103 rd Constitutional Amendment Act, 2019 and Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teachers\u2019 Cadre) Act, 2019<\/span><\/p>\n

Theme IV: Emerging Constitutional Deliberation in India<\/span><\/p>\n

Note: The list is suggestive and meritorious contributions on other sub-themes related to the broad theme are also invited.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who Can Attend?<\/span><\/h4>\n

Academicians, Practitioners, Research Scholars and Students are invited to submit research papers on the topics related to the above theme and participate in the conference. All the authors whose abstracts are selected shall be privileged to present their paper in the Conference.<\/span><\/p>\n
