The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India today signed a $200 million loan to upgrade rural roads to all-weather standards in 34 districts of Maharashtra State to improve road safety and better connect rural areas with markets and services.<\/p>\n

The signatories to the loan agreement for the Maharashtra Rural Connectivity Improvement Project were Mr. Sameer Kumar Khare, Additional Secretary (Fund Bank and ADB), Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance, on behalf of the Government of India, and Mr. Sabyasachi Mitra, Deputy Country Director of ADB\u2019s India Resident Mission, who signed for ADB. The project agreement was signed by Mr. Walter D\u2019mello, Under Secretary, Finance Department and Mr. Pravin Kide, Secretary, Mukhya Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and chief executive officer (CEO), Maharashtra Rural Road Development Association (MRRDA).<\/p>\n
