S.O. 3163(E)\u2013\u2013<\/strong>Whereas, the Central Government intends to take measures for prevention, control and abatement of environmental pollution in river Ganga and to ensure continuous adequate flow of water so as to rejuvenate the river Ganga to its natural and pristine condition;<\/p>\n

And whereas, to achieve the aforesaid objective, the Central Government decided to constitute various authorities at Central, State and District levels;<\/p>\n

And whereas, vide notification number S.O. 3187 (E), dated the 7th October, 2016 published in the Gazette of India, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), dated the 7th October, 2016, the Government of India in the erstwhile Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation made the River Ganga (Rejuvenation, Protection and Management) Authorities Order, 2016;<\/p>\n

And whereas, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (3) of Article 77 of the Constitution, the President made the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Three Hundred and Fiftieth Amendment Rules, 2019 and created a new Ministry, namely \u201cMinistry of Jal Shakti (Jal Shakti (Mantralaya), inter alia, allocating the subject matters relating to water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation to be administered by the said Ministry;<\/p>\n

And whereas, consequent upon the creation of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, it has been decided by the Central Government to make necessary consequential amendments in the said notification and in the River Ganga (Rejuvenation, Protection and Management) Authorities Order, 2016 contained therein;<\/p>\n

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (2) and (3) of section 3 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986), the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the said notification and further amendments in the River Ganga (Rejuvenation, Protection and Management) Authorities Order, 2016 contained therein, namely:\u2013\u2013<\/p>\n

1. Short title and commencement\u2014<\/strong>(1) This Order may be called the River Ganga (Rejuvenation, Protection and Management) Authorities (Second Amendment) Order, 2019.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
