{"id":218457,"date":"2019-08-21T17:00:34","date_gmt":"2019-08-21T11:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=218457"},"modified":"2019-08-21T16:11:45","modified_gmt":"2019-08-21T10:41:45","slug":"indian-railways-to-enforce-ban-on-single-use-plastic-material","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2019\/08\/21\/indian-railways-to-enforce-ban-on-single-use-plastic-material\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian Railways to enforce ban on single use plastic material"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Ministry of Railways has directed all Railway units to enforce a ban on single-use plastic material, with less than 50-micron thickness from 2<sup>nd<\/sup> October, 2019.<\/strong><\/span> Emphasis is on making necessary arrangements to minimize the generation of plastic waste and its eco- friendly disposal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this regard, the Min<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">istry of Railways has issued a circular stating the following instructions are to be enforced: w.e.f. 02-10-2019:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Ban on single-use plastic material<\/li>\n<li>All railway vendors to avoid the use of plastic carry bags<\/li>\n<li>Staff should reduce, reuse and refuse plastic products and use inexpensive reusable bags to reduce plastic footprint.<\/li>\n<li>IRCTC to implement the return of plastic drinking water bottles as part of Extended Producer Responsibility.<\/li>\n<li>Plastic Bottle crushing machines to be provided expeditiously.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Strict enforcement of these instructions is to be from 02-10-2019, to give enough time to all concerned to prepare for \u201cPlastic Free Railway\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ministry of Railways has also instructed its Railway units that a pledge can be administered on 2<sup>nd<\/sup>October, 2019 to cut the use of plastics.
