{"id":217698,"date":"2019-08-05T12:42:07","date_gmt":"2019-08-05T07:12:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=217698"},"modified":"2019-08-05T12:42:07","modified_gmt":"2019-08-05T07:12:07","slug":"ayodhya-dispute-sc-to-take-a-call-on-live-streaming-of-proceedings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2019\/08\/05\/ayodhya-dispute-sc-to-take-a-call-on-live-streaming-of-proceedings\/","title":{"rendered":"Ayodhya Dispute: SC to take a call on live streaming of proceedings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Supreme Court:\u00a0<\/strong> The Court has agreed to consider the live streaming of the proceeding in the Ayodhya land dispute case after\u00a0deliberation and institutional decision-making.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A bench headed by Justice S A Bobde said that it would look into the administrative side of the matter after senior advocate Vikas Singh, appearing on behalf of former RSS idealogue KN Govindacharya, mentioned the petition<br \/>\nbefore it, seeking live streaming and recording of the proceedings in the Ayodhya case. He submitted\u00a0that <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>for the time being, at least the recording of proceedings can be done and at the later stage, live streaming could be considered<\/em><\/span>. Govindacharya, in his petition, asserted that the public are being denied their right to access to justice under Article 21 of the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The plea stated<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;live streaming of the Ayodhya case is required considering the fact that in the absence of live streaming of proceedings of this Court, the public are also being denied their right to know as per Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It further said,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;This Court has already held that &#8216;right of access to justice flowing from Article 21 of the Constitution or be it the concept of justice at the doorstep, would be meaningful only if the public get access to the proceedings as it would unfold before the courts and in particular, opportunity to witness live proceedings in respect of matters having an impact on the public at large or on a section of people,&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThe Supreme Court had on <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.scconline.com\/post\/2019\/08\/02\/ayodhya-dispute-sc-to-hold-day-to-day-hearing-from-aug-6-after-mediation-committee-fails\/\">August 2 observed that since the mediation panel on Ayodhya matter has failed to achieve any final settlement in the matter, it will hold a day-to-day hearing in the case from August 6<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><strong>Also read:<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.scconline.com\/post\/2019\/03\/08\/ayodhya-dispute-to-be-settled-by-a-confidential-court-monitored-mediation-proceedings\/\"><b><strong>Ayodhya Dispute to be settled by a \u2018confidential\u2019 Court monitored mediation; No Gag order passed [Full Report]<\/strong><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">S<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.scconline.com\/post\/2019\/02\/26\/breaking-should-ayodhya-dispute-be-decided-by-mediation-sc-to-decide-on-march\/\">hould Ayodhya dispute be decided by mediation?
