The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore instituted in the year 1997 a Gold Medal in the name of the distinguished jurist, late H.M. Seervai for the best original essay written on the themes specified in Indian Constitutional Law. Over the years since 1997, this essay writing competition has become a prestigious event for the law students all over India. The significant rise every year in the number of contributions from the student community shows their mark of respect and tribute to one of the greatest legal luminaries of our country – H.M. Seervai.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The topic of the Essay is\u00a0\u201cTRANSFORMATIVE CONSTITUTIONALISM AS A CONSTITUTIONAL VISION\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Competition is open only for LL.B. \/ B.A., LL.B. \/ BBA, LL.B.\/B.Com., LL.B., students studying in any of the recognised Law Schools \/ Colleges \/ Universities in India\u00a0through regular mode. The student, whose essay on the chosen theme is adjudged to be the best, will be awarded a Gold Medal at the Annual Convocation of NLSIU, Bangalore.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Essay should be original (not published earlier or extracted from other sources) in English, not exceeding 10,000 words (approximately 30 double space typed pages, New Times Roman, font size 12) including footnotes and references, typed on one side of the A4 size papers. We request you to staple all the pages with an additional white page for first (title cover) and last page. Use of plastic wrappers and spiral bounds are discouraged.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(Co-authorship is not permitted).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Four (hard) copies\u00a0of the essay should be sent to the following address on or before\u00a0Saturday, the 25th\u00a0<\/span>July, 2019 by the students with their name, address, contact mobile no., email id, on the front page of the Essay along with a covering letter. Also students are required to submit the bonafide certificate through the Principal or Registrar or Head of the Institutions, failing which their essays will not be considered.<\/p>\n

The envelopes containing the essay should be properly sealed and superscribed\u00a0\u201cHM Seervai Gold Medal Essay Competition\u201d. A soft copy of the same should also be sent to\u00a0hmse@nls.ac.in<\/a>\u00a0from their respective email ids only, to facilitate future correspondences.<\/p>\n
