{"id":216705,"date":"2019-07-10T17:50:17","date_gmt":"2019-07-10T12:20:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=216705"},"modified":"2019-07-11T12:23:59","modified_gmt":"2019-07-11T06:53:59","slug":"the-transgender-persons-protection-of-rights-bill-2019-has-been-approved-by-cabinet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2019\/07\/10\/the-transgender-persons-protection-of-rights-bill-2019-has-been-approved-by-cabinet\/","title":{"rendered":"The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2019 &#8212; Approved by Cabinet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As reported by ANI, Cabinet has approved Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2019 today, i.e. 10-07-2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Background:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment proposes to introduce a Bill titled \u201c<strong>The Transgender Persons (protection of Rights) Bill, 2019? in the Lok Sabha<\/strong>, with the\u00a0<strong>aim of mitigating the stigma, discrimination and abuse against marginalized Transgender population and bring them into the mainstream of society.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As informed by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Employee State Insurance Act is legislation which provides certain benefits to employees in case of sickness, maternity and employment injury and to make provision for certain other matters in relation thereto. The ESI Act does not differentiate amongst the employees covered under the Act on the basis of their sex.\u00a0<strong>If transgender is employed in a factory\/establishment which comes under the purview of the ESI Act, the benefits available under the ESI Act will automatically be available to them.
