{"id":216655,"date":"2019-07-09T17:40:51","date_gmt":"2019-07-09T12:10:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=216655"},"modified":"2019-07-09T14:56:40","modified_gmt":"2019-07-09T09:26:40","slug":"online-fraud-cases-simple-and-speedy-redressal-of-consumer-disputes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2019\/07\/09\/online-fraud-cases-simple-and-speedy-redressal-of-consumer-disputes\/","title":{"rendered":"Online fraud cases &#8212; Simple and Speedy Redressal of Consumer Disputes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The following information regarding<strong> Online Fraud Cases<\/strong> was provided by Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food &amp; Public Distribution, Shri Danve Raosaheb Dadarao in the Lok Sabha today, i.e. 09-07-2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, a three-tier quasi-judicial mechanism has been set up at District, State and Central levels for better protection of the interests of consumers and to provide simple and speedy redressal of consumer disputes including online frauds. The consumer fora are empowered to give relief of a specific nature and award, wherever appropriate, compensation to consumers. Besides, the Department of Consumer Affairs is also running a National Consumer Helpline (NCH) where a consumer can call to seek information, advice or guidance and file complaints.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The number of complaints regarding online shopping after operationalization of online complaint filing from August, 2016 to March, 2019 in the National Consumer Helpline is 8373.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The complaints received in the NCH are forwarded to the companies concerned for redressal.
