As reported by media, the Division Bench of the High Court has upheld the Maratha Reservation for educational institutions and appointments to posts in public services as provided by the Maharashtra Government but says “16% is not justifiable”. A petition had challenged its constitutional validity. The Judgment was reserved after hearing the petitions on 26-03-2019.<\/p>\n
Background:<\/strong><\/p>\n Maharashtra legislature passed a bill proposing 16 per cent reservation in education and government jobs for the Marathas under the Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC) category.
