The bill now moves to the desk of Alabama\u2019s Republican governor, Kay Ivey.<\/p>\n<p>Following are the provisions relevant for further reading:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8220;Section 1.<\/span><\/em> This act shall be known as The Alabama Human Life Protection Act.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Section 4. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally perform or attempt to perform an\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/alissearch.legislature.state.al.us\/texis\/search\/context.html?query=ABORTION+LAW&amp;pr=2019RS&amp;prox=page&amp;rorder=500&amp;rprox=500&amp;rdfreq=500&amp;rwfreq=500&amp;rlead=500&amp;rdepth=0&amp;sufs=0&amp;order=dd&amp;cq=&amp;cmd=context&amp;id=5cdf2947cd#hit19\" name=\"hit18\">abortion<\/a> except as provided for by sub-section (b).<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><strong>(b) An\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/alissearch.legislature.state.al.us\/texis\/search\/context.html?query=ABORTION+LAW&amp;pr=2019RS&amp;prox=page&amp;rorder=500&amp;rprox=500&amp;rdfreq=500&amp;rwfreq=500&amp;rlead=500&amp;rdepth=0&amp;sufs=0&amp;order=dd&amp;cq=&amp;cmd=context&amp;id=5cdf2947cd#hit20\" name=\"hit19\">abortion<\/a>\u00a0shall be permitted if an attending physician licensed in Alabama determines that an\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/alissearch.legislature.state.al.us\/texis\/search\/context.html?query=ABORTION+LAW&amp;pr=2019RS&amp;prox=page&amp;rorder=500&amp;rprox=500&amp;rdfreq=500&amp;rwfreq=500&amp;rlead=500&amp;rdepth=0&amp;sufs=0&amp;order=dd&amp;cq=&amp;cmd=context&amp;id=5cdf2947cd#hit21\" name=\"hit20\">abortion<\/a>\u00a0is necessary in order to prevent a serious health risk to the unborn child&#8217;s mother. Except in the case of a medical emergency as defined herein, the physician&#8217;s determination shall be confirmed in writing by a second physician licensed in Alabama. The confirmation shall occur within 180 days after the\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/alissearch.legislature.state.al.us\/texis\/search\/context.html?query=ABORTION+LAW&amp;pr=2019RS&amp;prox=page&amp;rorder=500&amp;rprox=500&amp;rdfreq=500&amp;rwfreq=500&amp;rlead=500&amp;rdepth=0&amp;sufs=0&amp;order=dd&amp;cq=&amp;cmd=context&amp;id=5cdf2947cd#hit22\" name=\"hit21\">abortion<\/a>\u00a0is completed and shall be prima facie evidence for a permitted\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/alissearch.legislature.state.al.us\/texis\/search\/context.html?query=ABORTION+LAW&amp;pr=2019RS&amp;prox=page&amp;rorder=500&amp;rprox=500&amp;rdfreq=500&amp;rwfreq=500&amp;rlead=500&amp;rdepth=0&amp;sufs=0&amp;order=dd&amp;cq=&amp;cmd=context&amp;id=5cdf2947cd#hit23\" name=\"hit22\">abortion<\/a>.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Section 5. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">No woman upon whom an\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/alissearch.legislature.state.al.us\/texis\/search\/context.html?query=ABORTION+LAW&amp;pr=2019RS&amp;prox=page&amp;rorder=500&amp;rprox=500&amp;rdfreq=500&amp;rwfreq=500&amp;rlead=500&amp;rdepth=0&amp;sufs=0&amp;order=dd&amp;cq=&amp;cmd=context&amp;id=5cdf2947cd#hit24\" name=\"hit23\">abortion<\/a>\u00a0is performed or attempted to be performed shall be criminally or civilly liable.
