{"id":212149,"date":"2019-03-16T15:00:02","date_gmt":"2019-03-16T09:30:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=212149"},"modified":"2019-03-16T12:46:53","modified_gmt":"2019-03-16T07:16:53","slug":"central-government-notifies-postgraduate-medical-education-regulations-amendment-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2019\/03\/16\/central-government-notifies-postgraduate-medical-education-regulations-amendment-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Government notifies &#8212; Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations (Amendment), 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>No.MCI-_18(1)\/2018-Med.\/187262\u2014 <\/strong>In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 33 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956), the Board of Governors in Super-session of Medical Council of India with the previous sanction of the Central Government, hereby makes the following Regulations to further amend the \u201cPostgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000\u201d, namely: &#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1. (i) <strong>These Regulations may be called the \u201cPostgraduate Medical Education Regulations (Amendment), 2019.<\/strong><br \/>\n(ii) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2. In the \u201cPostgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000\u201d, under the heading of \u201cSelection of Postgraduate Students\u201d clause 9 (5) shall be substituted as under:-<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Provided further that 5% of the annual sanctioned intake capacity in Government or Government aided higher educational institutions shall be filled up by candidates with benchmark disabilities in accordance with the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, based on the merit list of \u2018National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test\u2019 for admission to Postgraduate Medical Courses. For this purpose, the \u201cSpecified Disability\u201d contained in the Schedule to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 is annexed in Appendix \u2018III\u2019 and the eligibility of candidates to pursue a course in medicine with specified disability shall be in accordance with Appendix \u2018IV\u2019. If the seats reserved for the persons with disabilities in a particular category remain unfilled on account of unavailability of candidates, the seats should be included in the annual sanctioned seats for the respective Category.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In order to be eligible for admission to Postgraduate Course for an academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum of marks at 50th percentile in the \u2018National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduate courses\u2019 held for the said academic year. However, in respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks shall be at 40th percentile.
