On the occasion of National Constitution Day, Centre for Civil Society in association with Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA is launching 6 States Repeal Laws Compendium at the Constitution Club, New Delhi today i.e. November 26, 2018 at 03:00pm.<\/p>\n
The launch will be followed by a panel discussion on the \u201cExploring Alternatives: Institutionalisation of Repeal of Laws.\u201d\u00a0The panelists include\u00a0Ms Pinky Anand, Additional Solicitor General of India,\u00a0Shri Colin Gonsalvis, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India and Founder HRLN,\u00a0Shri Hemant Batra, Founder and Chairman, Kaden Boriss Global,\u00a0Shri Maneesh Chhibber, Executive Editor, DNA,\u00a0Shri PK Malhotra, Former Law Secretary, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India,\u00a0Shri Parth J Shah, President, Centre for Civil Society,\u00a0Shri Satya Prakash, Legal Editor, The Tribune and\u00a0Shri Tariq Ahmed, Former Union Minister.<\/p>\n
About the Initiative<\/b><\/p>\n
Centre of Civil Society (CCS) initiated the \u2018Repeal of 100 Laws\u2019 Project in 2014 with the aim to identify laws that could be repealed on account of three reasons – i) redundancy, ii) obsolescence in the face of new laws iii) hindrance to development, governance and freedom.<\/p>\n
For the last phase of the Repeal of Laws Project, CCS reached out to 5 State Governments, to carry out extensive studies, in collaboration with esteemed law universities from each state. Under this phase in year 2017, the state compendiums were prepared in collaboration with Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA, Maharashtra National Law University- Mumbai, Hidyatullah National Law University-Raipur, National Laws School of India University- Bangalore and The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research- Hyderabad for the states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharahtra,\u00a0\u00a0Chattisgarh, Karnataka and Telangana respectively.<\/p>\n
This year, Repeal of Laws Initiative Phase III covered following six states by respective Law Schools:\u00a0Assam:\u00a0Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA;\u00a0Gujarat:\u00a0Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar;\u00a0Meghalaya:\u00a0The National Academy of Legal Studies & Research, Hyderabad;\u00a0Mizoram & Tripura:\u00a0National Law School of India University, Bangalore;\u00a0Jammu & Kashmir:\u00a0Jammu University.<\/p>\n
