West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences Kolkata (NUJS) is organizing\u00a0\u00a0Indian Mediation Week (IMW)<\/a>, a pan India mediation awareness campaign, in collaboration with ODRways<\/a> which is in the list of top 12 ADR centers of India recognized by \u00a0Department of Justice, Government of India. The campaign is supported by Ministry of Law and Justice Government of India, and Hon\u2019ble Justice Madan Lokur, Supreme Court Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee. In the last one year, the Indian Mediation Week campaign has spread to 102 cities across India and directly sensitized more than 2,00,000 people about the benefits of mediation. IMW has launched the first of its kind online platform,\u00a0Mediation Embassy<\/a>, where you can track the level of mediation awareness in each city. In order to prevent commercial disputes from getting caught in complicated procedures of the court, IMW is organizing Business-Mediation Summit in all four metro cities of India: <\/span><\/p>\n

1) Kolkata (10th December 2018), at National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. 10 AM- 2 PM,<\/span><\/p>\n

2) Chennai (12th December 2018), at Madras Managment Association, 10 AM- 2 PM,<\/span><\/p>\n

3) Mumbai (14th December 2018), at IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 10 AM- 2 PM<\/span><\/p>\n

4) Delhi (15th December 2018), at PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 10 AM- 2 PM<\/span><\/p>\n

The highlight of this event is going to be the \u00a0\u201cStart Smart Awards\u201d in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, Government of India. The aim is to recognize the top 3 startups each from 4 zones of India, North, South, West, and East. The award ceremonies of the zones will be held in Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi respectively. The top 3 startups from each zone will be provided incubation support by AIM, NITI Aayog, Government of India. The aim is to sensitize the startup industry and the MSMEs with better dispute resolution practices and management tools. There will be two panel discussions in each summit: 1) How to make doing business easier?, 2) How to make solving disputes easier?.<\/span><\/p>\n

The target audience for this event includes Startups and MSMEs and the guest list for the event will include CEOs, Industrialists, MNCs, Banks, Traders associations, lawyers, mediators, Law Firm Partners, \u00a0arbitrators, judges, ADR centers across India etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

Call for Proposals to improve the state of access to justice in India- Get Certificates and Internships<\/span><\/h4>\n

Interested law students can submit their proposal to improve access to justice in India, it can range anywhere from 500-1000 words. Please note that there are no rules with respect to style, structure or format.<\/span><\/p>\n

We just want to hear your thoughts! After a screening process, the top 3 proposals \u00a0for each Business Mediation Summit (Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai) will be decided by the Jury constituted by National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata and they will be awarded a certificate of achievement and a one-month assured internship in 2019(corporate law firm, litigation etc) at the respective Business-Mediation Summit.<\/span><\/p>\n
