Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat\u00a0is organizing Conclaves in various discipline of Law as a part of the Academia Conclave series with an aim of blurring the boundaries between the disciplines that we study and encourage an amalgamation of different ideas and perspectives that cut across discipline.\u00a0This Conclave series will feature experts drawn from the bar, bench and academia who will explore the contours of our \u201cmore perfect union\u201d in a variety of formats, from legal debate to oral arguments in field of Constitutional Law, International Law, Criminal Law, Business Law and Intellectual Property Rights. Academia Conclave Series\u00a0would be a first-of-its-kind, conclave to explore linkages between the legal industry and the academia, organised by Institute of Law, Nirma University, in association with the Bar Association of India and Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF).
\nComing at a time when both legal education and the legal industry are in need of fresh ideas and reforms, this conclave attempts to forge an understanding of the objectives of legal education and engage in a dialogue on the intersection between legal education and the legal industry in the context of the ever-changing landscape of business activities in India.<\/p>\n
Business law\u00a0is witnessing a sea change in terms of reforms, with newer policies being introduced and older ones being amended. The tax regime is experiencing a major overhaul with the introduction of the\u00a0Goods & Services Tax (GST)\u00a0and changes in the\u00a0Project Financing and Infrastructural Development\u00a0along with Problems & Prospects involved with Competition Laws in India among other modifications is set to improve India\u2019s ranking in the global mark. The proposed conclave is a step towards identifying and analysing relevant contemporary trends in the growth\/development of various set of laws such as Constitutional Law and Human Rights, Business and Commercial Laws, Competition Law and Economics creating and spreading awareness amongst the students, faculty members regarding law and identifying the role of different set of laws as a catalyst in economic progress. The two-day Congress will be choc-a-bloc with insightful and interactive sessions on a wide range of topics, including definition of growth at the time of policy reforms,\u00a0liberalization as an integral part of globalization, steps to be taken today for a better tomorrow.<\/p>\n
The first day of this congress will\u00a0bring together various stakeholders of the governance ranging from Senior Partners, Associates, Legal Counsels from various Law Firms and Companies and legal machinery of the country to see how best the existing challenges in the business and commercial laws can be tackled with and foster the growth within the sector. This would be an opportunity for them to gather under one roof for in-depth deliberations on a variety of topics as also provide perfect avenues for networking and business matching amongst industry peers and colleagues.<\/p>\n
The second day of this two-day congress shall draw experts drawn from the bar, bench and academia who will explore the contours of our \u201cmore perfect union\u201d in a variety of formats, from Constitutional and Human Right debate to oral arguments This conclave aims at bringing together Senior Advocates, Advocates, People, Sitting and former Judges of Supreme Court and High Court to discuss and deliberate upon various issues related to Constitution and its relevance in contemporary society.<\/p>\n
We hope to take a step towards imparting practice-oriented legal education and training to law students in collaboration with experts from the legal industry. ILNU Ahmedabad hopes to strengthen this mutually enriching relationship between the Indian legal industry and the academia by leading the dialogue on the next generation of reforms needed to create a brighter future for lawyers who are technically sound and socially-relevant.\u00a0 The Conclave will focus on the key challenges for lawyers, students, and professionals in a global economy and how to succeed. The program will have participation from leading business and human rights lawyers.
