In its first edition, this event was a composition of four competitions viz. Mediation-Arbitration Competition, Negotiation Competition, Client Counselling Competition and Arbitral Award Writing Competition. From our experiences from the first edition, we have decided to merge the Mediation-Arbitration Competition and the Arbitral Award Writing Competition. The effect of this change will be that the participant who will act as the arbitrator will also write an award after the proceedings. This will encourage a practical approach for the participants.<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>About the Tournament:<\/strong> The concept of Alternative Dispute Redressal (ADR) is that it provides a substitute to the conventional methods of resolving disputes. ADR offers to resolve various types of matters including civil, commercial, industrial and family etc., where litigation takes years to settle the disputes. ADR provides the parties with a channel to initiate a dialogue and reach the settlement \u00a0expeditiously and cost-effectively.<br \/>\nThe Alternative Dispute Resdressal Tournament consists of the following competitions under its fold-<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Mediation-Arbitration &amp; Arbitral Award Writing Competition:<\/strong> The Med-Arb Competition is a hybrid of Mediation and Arbitration.\u00a0 In the initial phase,\u00a0the presiding neutral third-party acts as a\u00a0mediator and coaches\u00a0 (or) encourages\u00a0the parties towards a settlement.\u00a0 In the shadow of Med-Arb, the participants first,\u00a0 try and resolve the dispute through mediation,\u00a0failing which the parties adopt\u00a0the process of arbitration.\u00a0Further, this is for the first time that a participant will be writing the award after attending the proceedings. Till date, no Moot Court\u00a0Competition or any Competition has come up with this concept.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Negotiation Competition:<\/strong> In Negotiation competition, each team shall consist of an attorney and a client who will negotiate with the differing party in the most adept manner. Here where two parties in a conflict or dispute reach a settlement between themselves that they can both agree on. Negotiations are reached through discussions made between the representatives of the parties without any involvement of the third party.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Client Counseling Competition:<\/strong>\u00a0The competitors conduct an initial interview with a person playing the role of the client and then address both the client\u2019s legal and non-legal issues in Client Counseling Competition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Dates:<\/strong> <strong>27th and 28th September, 2018<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Venue:<\/strong> Amity Law School, I-Block, Noida, Sector- 125, U.P.<br \/>\n<strong>Objective:<\/strong> The main objective of the tournament is to explore\u00a0the various aspects of dispute resolution,\u00a0understand its intricacies and receive a more\u00a0practical understanding of\u00a0 the\u00a0alternate methods of dispute settlement out of court, which will ultimately promote the various mechanisms of ADR.\u00a0It seeks to encourage the students to bring out their latent talents, providing them with a learning experience and building their competitive spirit.<br \/>\nCash prizes worth Rs. 65,000.<br \/>\n<strong>Registration:<\/strong> The registration fee is Rs. 1500 for each participant (Exclusive of Accommodation\u00a0Fee which shall be Rs. 500 per participant).
