Above is an excerpt from the 3rd Barrister M K Nambyar Law Lecture which was delivered at the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) on August 4, 2018 by Justice Kurian Joseph, Judge Supreme Court of India and Visitor of NUALS. The lecture primarily focused on the \u2018Evolution of the Supreme Court in Protecting the Oppressed\u2019. The importance of various judgments in relation to protection of persons such as women, tribal people etc. was highlighted.<\/p>\n
The Presidential address was delivered by Justice Hrishikesh Roy, Acting Chief Justice of High Court of Kerala and Chancellor of NUALS. He observed that the arguments made by M. K. Nambyar were far-sighted and were accepted and used later by Courts.<\/p>\n
Vice-Chancellor of NUALS, Prof. Dr. Rose Varghese spoke a few words about the M K Nambyar endowment instituted at NUALS by Sri. K K. Venugopal. With a corpus of Rs 50 lakhs, it aims to help\u00a0 economically backward students of NUALS to complete\u00a0 their education and also to award the M K Nambyar Gold Medal in Public Law to the student securing the highest marks in Constitutional Law and Administrative Law every year.<\/p>\n
The lecture by Justice Kurian Joseph was insightful and inspiring for the students. To quote from the same, \u2018You may not change the entire world by helping an individual, but you can change that individual\u2019s entire world.\u2019 [in relation to providing legal services.]\n<\/p>\n
