{"id":199288,"date":"2018-07-31T12:48:53","date_gmt":"2018-07-31T07:18:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=199288"},"modified":"2018-07-31T12:48:53","modified_gmt":"2018-07-31T07:18:53","slug":"composite-supply-of-works-contract-to-govt-term-business-clarified","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2018\/07\/31\/composite-supply-of-works-contract-to-govt-term-business-clarified\/","title":{"rendered":"Composite supply of works contract to Govt &#8211; Term \u2018Business\u2019 clarified"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>G.S.R. 681(E).-<\/strong> In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of Section 11 of the\u00a0Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 (12 of 2017), the Central Government, on the recommendations of the Council, and on being satisfied that it is necessary so to do for the purpose of clarifying the scope and applicability of the notification of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 11\/2017- Central Tax (Rate), dated the 28th June, 2017, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, sub-section (i), vide number G.S.R. 690(E), dated the 28th June, 2017, hereby inserts following Explanation in the said notification, in the Table, against serial number 3, in column (3), in item (vi), namely:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\u201c<em>Explanation. \u2013<\/em> For the purposes of this item, the term \u2018business\u2019 shall not include any activity or transaction undertaken by the Central Government, a State Government or any local authority in which they are engaged as public authorities.\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2. This notification shall come into force with effect from 27th of July, 2018.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">[F.
