As reported by media, the Israel parliament has passed a bill which characterizes the country principally as a Jewish State by undermining the Arab minority.<\/p>\n
Israel\u2019s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the passage of this legislation as a \u2018historic moment\u2019 for the nation. He also stated that \u2018Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people, and respects the rights of all its citizens\u2019.<\/p>\n
The essence of this law is that it defines Israel first and foremost as a Jewish State.<\/p>\n
Israel has no constitution but with the passage of time, it has successfully passed a series of \u2018Basic Laws\u2019 which have constitutional status.
