{"id":194183,"date":"2018-03-19T14:33:19","date_gmt":"2018-03-19T09:03:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=194183"},"modified":"2018-03-19T14:36:45","modified_gmt":"2018-03-19T09:06:45","slug":"supreme-court-seeks-centres-report-on-condition-of-rohingya-camps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2018\/03\/19\/supreme-court-seeks-centres-report-on-condition-of-rohingya-camps\/","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court seeks Centre&#8217;s report on condition of Rohingya camps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Supreme Court:\u00a0<\/strong>The Bench of Dipak Misra, CJ and AM Khanwilkar and Dr. DY Chandrachud, JJ asked the Central government to file a comprehensive status report, giving details on the condition of Rohingya\u00a0camps\u00a0in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi-NCR after Senior advocate\u00a0Colin Gonsalves submitted before the Court\u00a0that the conditions at the Rohingya\u00a0camps\u00a0are &#8220;unhygienic and pathetic&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Colin Gonsalves, appearing for one of the petitioners, told the Court that\u00a0the\u00a0refugees\u00a0had no access to clean sanitation facilities such as toilets and clean drinking water, that was leading to their deaths and that\u00a0 the\u00a0Centre\u00a0and the states, hosting these\u00a0refugees, should be asked to provide better hygienic facilities at these\u00a0camps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Rohingya immigrants, who fled to India after violence in the Rakhine state of Myanmar, have settled in Jammu, Hyderabad, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan. More than 600,000\u00a0refugees\u00a0are languishing in Bangladeshi refugee\u00a0camps\u00a0after fleeing a brutal Myanmar army campaign launched in August last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:
