Supreme Court<\/strong>: Dismissing the petition filed by Advocate ML Sharma seeking stay on the release of the movie Padmavati, the Supreme Court strongly condemned the comments that are being passed on the movie by office bearers and said:<\/p>\n

“All concerned people, holding responsible posts must be guided by rule of law & shouldn’t venture into to passing comments on films which haven’t been cleared by CBFC.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The petitioner had\u00a0sought a direction for registration of case against director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and others, for various offences including defamation and violation of the Cinematography Act.<\/p>\n

The bench\u00a0of Dipak Misra, CJ and A M Khanwilkar and Dr. D Y Chandrachud, JJ termed as “misconceived”, the prayers sought by Sharma in his fresh petition and said that the court cannot pre-judge a movie which is yet to be certified by the Central Board of Film Certification(CBFC). It said:<\/p>\n

“when matter is pending for CBFC’s consideration, how can persons holding public offices comment on whether CBFC should issue certificate or not? It’ll prejudice decision making of CBFC.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
