Comparative\u00a0Constitutional Law is emerging as an independent area of law and practice. Most modern\u00a0Constitutions, like the Indian Constitution, borrow from other Constitutions at the stage of design\u00a0i.e. writing the Constitution and at the stage of its interpretation.<br \/>\nThe Indian Supreme Court has a long history of using comparative law in its judgments. It may\u00a0seem unusual that any fruitful comparison could be drawn between as small a state as Ireland, and\u00a0one as large as India: yet, curiously, there are significant areas where, Indians and Irish, as people,\u00a0lawyers, and judges, meet \u201cour own image\u201d in law. It is, of course, a two way \u201cmirror\u201d, which reflects\u00a0both ways. The overarching theme of the course is how to maintain the legitimacy of a constitution\u00a0in the face of political, economic and social change, all of which impose pressures on the fabric of a\u00a0constitution itself.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Date:\u00a0September 11 &#8211; 18, 2017\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Participants:<\/strong>\u00a0Number of participants for the course will be limited to fifty [50].<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You should attend if\u2026<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">you are a lawyer with an interest in comparative constitutional theory\u00a0and practice<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">you are a master\u2019s student of a social science discipline with an interface\u00a0with law<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">you are a student of law having completed a course in constitutional law<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">you are a faculty from an academic institution interested in\u00a0researching or teaching comparative constitutional law<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Fees:\u00a0<\/strong>The participation fees for taking the course is\u00a0Rs. 10,000 [Rupees Ten Thousand only]. \u00a0The fee includes all instructional materials, computer use for\u00a0tutorials and assignments, laboratory equipment usage charges, 24 hr\u00a0free internet facility. Accommodation will be provided on payment basis. Participants\u00a0needing accommodation must inform organizers at the time of\u00a0registration.<\/p>\n<p>Student registration has been reduced to Rs. 5,000 [Rupees Five Thousand only] following requests by students.
