{"id":147021,"date":"2017-08-02T16:10:49","date_gmt":"2017-08-02T10:40:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=147021"},"modified":"2017-08-02T16:10:49","modified_gmt":"2017-08-02T10:40:49","slug":"delhi-hc-forms-committee-headed-by-justice-ruma-pal-to-frame-court-reporting-guidelines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2017\/08\/02\/delhi-hc-forms-committee-headed-by-justice-ruma-pal-to-frame-court-reporting-guidelines\/","title":{"rendered":"Delhi HC forms committee headed by Justice Ruma Pal to frame court reporting guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As reported by <em>Hindustan Times<\/em>, the Delhi High Court has set up a six-member committee that will make recommendations on \u201chow court proceedings ought to be\u00a0covered in the media in Delhi\u201d.\u00a0The committee has been given three months to come up with its guidelines for media personnel and organisations to follow while reporting on court cases and proceedings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal said in the order, \u201c&#8230;it is a participatory endeavour by which certain principles can be evolved which ought to guide media organisations in their coverage of court proceedings and cases\u201d.\u00a0The committee will recommend \u201cmethods of balancing a free press with the need for fair trial and ensuring integrity of judicial proceedings\u201d. It will also suggest methodology for accreditation of court reporters through an independent process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The committee will be chaired by retired Supreme Court Judge Ruma Pal. Justice Manmohan of the Delhi High Court will be its Convenor.\u00a0Other members are retired Justice G Raghuram, former IAS Officer SC Panda, Arghya Sengupta of Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, Senior
