Election Commission of India (ECI) is launching a \u2018Special Drive\u00a0to\u00a0enrol\u00a0left out electors, with a special focus on first time electors from 1st July , 2017 , so as\u00a0to move in the direction of Commission\u2019s motto that\u00a0‘NO VOTER TO BE LEFT BEHIND\u2019.<\/p>\n
In order to reach out to maximum eligible voters, the ECI is collaborating with Facebook to launch first Nationwide \u201cVoter Registration Reminder\u201d on 1st July, 2017 .\u00a0 With over 180 million people in India on Face book, the\u00a0\u2018Register Now\u2019\u00a0button is designed to encourage Indian citizens to register themselves with the Election Commission of India.\u00a0On\u00a01st July, a notification of the \u201cvoter registration reminder\u201d will be sent to people on Facebook in India who are eligible to vote.\u00a0The reminder will be sent out in 13 Indian languages\u00a0–\u00a0English, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali, Urdu, Assamese, Marathi and Oriya.<\/p>\n
This is the first time Facebook’s voter registration reminder has been rolled out across India.\u00a0In 2016 and 2017, Chief Electoral Officers made such efforts at state level during their respective state elections.<\/p>\n
By clicking on the\u00a0\u201cRegister Now”\u00a0button on Facebook from 1st July 2017, people will be directed to the\u00a0National Voters\u2019\u00a0Services Portal (www.nvsp.in) \u00a0which will guide them through the registration process.<\/p>\n
Speaking about nationwide launch of \u201cVoter Registration Reminder\u201d the Chief Election Commissioner Dr Nasim Zaidi said \u00a0\u201cI am pleased to announce that the Election Commission of India is launching a \u2018Special Drive\u00a0to\u00a0enrol\u00a0left out electors, with a special focus on first time electors This is a step towards fulfilment of the motto of ECI that ‘NO VOTER TO BE LEFT BEHIND’.\u00a0As part of this campaign, on\u00a01st July, 2017,\u00a0Facebook will run a voter registration reminder in multiple Indian languages to all the Facebook users in India. I urge all eligible citizens to\u00a0enrol and VOTE i.e Recognize your Right and Perform your Duty.\u00a0I am sure this initiative will\u00a0strengthen Election Commission of India’s\u00a0enrolment\u00a0campaign and\u00a0encourage future voters to participate in the Electoral Process and become responsible Citizens of India.\u201d<\/p>\n
