\"\"New Edition of B.M. Gandhi’s Indian Penal Code was released at RMLNLU, Lucknow, which has been revised and updated by Dr Kumar Aksand Pandey, who is an Associate Professor at the RMLNLU. On the dias were Justice A.P. Sahi, Justice D.K. Upadhaya and Justice A.R. Masoodi of the Allahabad High Court, Shri K.T.S. Tulsi, Senior Advocate, Prof. Gurdip Singh, Vice-Chancellor, RMLNLU, Lucknow, Mr Surendra Malik, Chief Editor, Supreme Court Cases and Mr Vijay Malik, MD, EBC.<\/p>\n

Dr Pandey, when asked to comment on the release, informed the audience that apart from revision, he has also added chapters on Penology, Victimology, and Juvenile Justice System. He got nostalgic and told the audience\u00a0about how he had first encountered Gandhi\u2019s IPC in 1996 when he was a first year LLB student, and thereafter not only did he immensely enjoy the text but also had since dreamt of revising the book someday.<\/p>\n

The current fourth edition of B.M. Gandhi\u2019s Indian Penal Code<\/em> revised by K.A. Pandey is an authoritative commentary on the subject. The revising author has thoroughly revised and updated this work incorporating the latest statutory and case law developments.<\/p>\n

The following are the notable features of this new edition:<\/p>\n

  1. Analyses the provisions of the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013.<\/li>\n
  2. Aggravated forms of offences and their cognate offences have been grouped together for easy grasping.<\/li>\n
  3. Contains recommendations of Law Commission of India and important committees .<\/li>\n
  4. Contains relevant provisions of connected legislations to impart a complete knowledge. For example, criminal liability of a child has been discussed vis-<\/em>\u00e0-vis<\/em> the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.<\/li>\n
  5. A new appendix on victimology and rights of victim has been added.<\/li>\n
  6. Prominent cases and principles included in a Box.<\/li>\n
  7. Overview at the start of each chapter prepares the reader to easily learn and conceptualise things discussed in the chapter.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
