CADR-RGNUL is ecstatic to announce the 4th Edition of the RGNUL Sports and Entertainment Law Mediation Competition, 2022 (“4th SEMC“) which is scheduled to be held virtually between April 8 – 10 2022. The Inaugural, Second, and Third Edition saw teams from various Universities participate and attempt to secure the opportunity to represent India at the International Mediation Singapore (IMSG) Competition organized by Singapore International Mediation Institute (SIMI).

 

About the University 

The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law is a National Law University located in Patiala, Punjab, India. It was established in 2006 by the Punjab Government as a university dedicated to the field of Legal Education.

 

About CADR

The Centre for Alternative Dispute resolution (CADR), Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law has been established to promote students’ and researchers’ interest in Alternative Dispute Resolution consisting dispute resolution mechanisms like Arbitration, Negotiation, Mediation and Conciliation. Started in 2018, the Centre strives to organize stimulating discourses which is relevant to, not only the academia, but also the professional world and thus add to the literature of ADR. In pursuance of its objectives, CADR has initiated various novel and successful events, lectures, competitions et. al. in collaboration with the valued partners in the professional and academic world.

 

About PACT

The Peacekeeping and Conflict Resolution Team (PACT) is a team of like-minded professionals who share the vision of promoting the use of consensual dispute resolution (CDR). As a collective, the PACT aims to catalyse the development of CDR in India and abroad through its innovative initiatives. Conceptualized by law and psychology graduates, The PACT grew up along the shores of Goa, is currently headquartered in New Delhi, and has begun working on projects beyond India. The mission is to cross geographical boundaries and stereotypes, and take Consensual Dispute Resolution to every corner of this globe.

CADR-RGNULhave always been proud to associate itself with renowned institutions and organizations with their Competition. This year as well, we are glad to co-organize the Competition in association with The Peacekeeping and Conflict Resolution Team (PACT). We also have onboard, Markanda Advocates as our Chief Knowledge Partner and Krida Legal as our Chief Advisory Organization. SCC Online and EBC have also joined us as Knowledge Partners for the event. Along with them, many other influential names in the industry will be associated with the Competition.

 

About the 4th Edition of the SEMC

For the Fourth Edition, our objective is not only to provide students an opportunity to indulge themselves in a niche area of dispute resolution but also to provide participants an opportunity to network with prominent individuals in the field – nationally and internationally. We are expectant that the fourth edition will maintain the level of success that earlier editions had achieved and take it to even greater heights.

 

Registration Details

The University’s ADR Society or any other relevant authority must first reserve slots for their teams by filling this Provisional Registration Form latest by February 28, 2022. Upon reservation, the Organizing Committee (OC) will confirm the number of slots allotted and send a Final Registration Form (also attached in the official Brochure) to the University’s ADR Society/the teams. Teams must complete their formal registration by submitting that form.

  • Upon selection by the organising committee, teams must complete the payment of the registration fee within a period of 48 hours. Details for payment of the registration fee will be notified to the teams upon selection through a confirmation email.
  • The Registration Fee is INR 4,500/- per team, which is inclusive of all costs.
  • Final registration of the teams is subject to the successful payment of the registration fee within the stipulated time.

 

Other Details

  • Each participating team shall consist of three members – a Client-Counsel pair (i.e., the Negotiation Team) and one student as the neutral Mediator.
  • Number of participating teams – 32 teams
  • Cap on the number of teams per University – Each University may send up to 2 teams to participate in the competition, subject to availability of slots.
