About the NLIU- Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot

The NLIU-MCA is pleased to announce the seventh edition of the NLIU-Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot, to be held virtually from March 10 to 13, 2022.

 

The Moot and its partners

This Moot is our flagship event, organized annually in partnership with the Office of Senior Advocate and Member of Parliament – Mr. Vivek Tankha in the memory of late Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.K. Tankha. The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) is the official institutional partner for the moot. L&L Partners Law Offices (f/k/a Luthra & Luthra) and Allen & Gledhill LLP are respectively our National and International Law Firm Partners. Jus Mundi is the Official Research Partner for the Competition. The National Forum for Research in Arbitration Law (NFRAL) and Indian Arbitration Law Review (IALR) are the Official Knowledge Partners. The friends of the moot include APRAG, BR-VYAP, ENERAP and Tales of the Tribunal etc.

 

Awards include cash prizes to the tune of INR 2,40,000, trophies, and access to various research resources. The Winners and the Best Oralist of the Preliminary and Final Rounds will receive internship opportunities from L&L Partners, SIAC, and Allen & Gledhill LLP respectively.

 

For the seventh edition of the Moot, the Case Record/Moot Problem is being drafted by Mr. Girish Deepak and Mr. Nishant Vasanth. Mr. Deepak obtained a master’s degree in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS) from Geneva. He is presently pursuing a PhD at the University of Vienna. His primary areas of focus are International Arbitration, Trade and Investment Law. Mr. Vasanth recently finished his stint as a full time Law Clerk and Research Assistant at the Supreme Court of India. He is currently pursuing master’s in International Litigation and Arbitration at the prestigious University of Cambridge.

The Moot has the distinction of being the most participated and sought-after moot in India. In the past years, the Moot has attracted participation from premier national and international universities.

 

Important Dates

  • Release of Case Record– Second Week of October, 2021
  • Last Date for Provisional Registration: 15 October, 2021 (Indian Teams)
  • Last Date of Registration (to be completed only after confirmation)– 10 November, 2021
  • Submission of Memorial– 1 February, 2022
  • Oral Rounds– 11-12 March, 2022

 

Platform

The competition will be organized virtually through video conferencing. The details of the platform shall be notified later.

 

Registration Procedure

The Registration fee for the competition is

Ø  INR 4000 for Indian Teams

Ø  USD 100 for International Teams

The institutions can register themselves, for the Competition, provisionally through their designated Moot Court Association by filling the Google Form attached Here
