Confederation of Alumni for National Law Universities (CAN) Foundation has released a call for applications under one of its flagship projects, Project Eklavya, for its 3rd edition, Eklavya 2021.

 

Project Eklavya of the Foundation seeks to lift and impact deserving, but underprivileged, undergraduate students of National Law Universities of the Country. This is done by providing the students with an annual scholarship that facilitates them in attaining education at premier NLUs of the nation. In the academic session 2020-21, under the 2nd edition of the Project, 30 students were given scholarships amounting to Rs. 25 Lakhs approx. With the same drive this year as well, CAN Foundation is all set to go ahead with the 3rd edition of Project Eklavya for the academic year 2021-22.

 

The Selection Procedure for Project Eklavya has been meticulously and diligently designed keeping in mind the authenticity as well as the significance of the Project. There will be a 2-tier process, wherein the applications shall undergo a strict scrutiny by both the Committees, that would comprise eminent legal professionals. The students will further be shortlisted by a carefully nominated Tier-1 Scrutiny Committee, post which the applications would be carefully verified and examined by a 3-Membered High-Powered Panel.

 

The High-Powered Selection Committee of Eklavya 2021 is headed by Justice Gita Mittal (Former Chief Justice, J&K High Court) as the Chairperson and also consists of Mr. Dayan Krishnan (Senior Advocate, Supreme Court) and Mr. Siddharth Bhatnagar (Senior Advocate, Supreme Court) as its members.

 

The Tier-1 Scrutiny Committee shall comprise of eminent young faces of the legal fraternity having a minimum standing of 10 years at the Bar. It consists of Ms. Pragati Neekhra (AOR, Supreme Court), Mr. Amalpushp Shroti (AOR, Supreme Court), Mr. Divyakant Lahoti (AOR, Supreme Court), Mr. Mrigank Prabhakar (AOR, Supreme Court), Ms. Suhasini Sen (Advocate, Supreme Court), Mr. Tariq Khan (Principal Associate, Advani & Co.).

For applying under Project Eklavya, the Student must:

  • Be in 2nd Year or above.
  • Be enrolled in any undergraduate degree of any NLU of the Country.
  • Must have secured a minimum of 65% aggregate/average marks in the last three semesters (for the last two semesters for students currently in their 2nd Year).
  • Have an Annual Cumulative Family Income (of Father, Mother, unmarried brother or sister) that does not exceed 8,00,000 per year including the current financial year.

The last date for sending the duly filled applications is 15th September, 2021, 7 PM IST.

 

For funding its Eklavya scholarship programme, 2021, the Foundation shall be acquiring donations from Eminent Senior Advocates, members of the Legal Fraternity and the Alumni Base of the respective Universities from where the nominated Eklavya Scholars shall be pursuing their law degrees from.
