Shaktikanta Das appointed as the new RBI governor

The government on 11-12-2018 appointed Shaktikanta Das as the new Reserve Bank of India (RBI) chief after resignation of Urjit Patel (first governor since 1990 to step down before his term ends, and was eligible for a second term) on 10-12-2018.

Shaktikanta Das (who retired as the economic affairs secretary) has been appointed for a term of three years as the RBI governor.
