National Law University Delhi organised the 5th edition of the Herbert Smith Freehills-National Law University Delhi International Negotiation Competition. The aim of the competition is to provide opportunity to the law students from various universities across the globe to compete in a very diverse environment. The competition has been structured to simulate legal negotiations as close to as possible. This competition is especially relevant for students who want to be international lawyers in the future.

From 7th to 9th September, NLU Delhi hosted 40 teams from 10 different countries. The rounds witnessed great variety in the negotiation strategies adopted by teams from different backgrounds. After several preliminary rounds, quarter-finals and semi-finals, what turned out to be an intense battle for the spoils, University of Oxford and National University of Juridical Sciences faced each other in the finals.

The final round was judged by Justice Rajendra Menon (Chief Justice, Delhi High Court and Chancellor, NLU Delhi) Mr. Chris Parsons (Chairman, India Practice, Herbert Smith Freehills LLP), Mr. Bhaskar Chandran (Group President – Legal, GMR Group) and Mr. Aditya Ghosh (business leader and entrepreneur). The competition was won by NUJS, who were awarded in the Valedictory Ceremony which followed the finals.
